Remington College Continues National Effort to Increase the Number of Minority Blood Donors through “3 Lives” Program – Honolulu

Remington College-Honolulu Campus Holds

June 14 Blood Drive

Honolulu, Hawaii – (June 9, 2010) – Remington College-Honolulu Campus is continuing its series of local blood drives to recruit more minority blood donors to benefit Honolulu residents in need of blood.

The next blood drive will be held on Monday, June 14 from 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Remington College has partnered with America’s Blood Centers and the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America for a series of blood drives on all its campuses. The effort is called 3 Lives – because three lives may be saved for every one pint of blood donated. During blood drives in April, Remington College campuses collected a total of 684 pints of blood.

While the blood drives in the mainland focus on the need for African American donors, the need in Hawaii is for donors that are Jk3 negative. These donors are of Micronesian or Polynesian decent.

The public is encouraged to attend the drive and donate blood. All the blood collected will be used to help people in the Honolulu area.

While walk-ins at the blood drive are welcome, donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment in advance by calling the Blood Bank of Hawaii at 808-845-9966.

Remington College-Honolulu Campus is located at 1111 Bishop Street, Suite 400.
