Remington College-Nashville Campus Offers Dental Health Day for Children on June 15
Free event provides Nashville kids with tips on keeping teeth healthy
Nashville, Tenn. – (June 1, 2011) – Remington College-Nashville Campus and the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) are partnering to provide local school-age children with dental hygiene tips, as well as a take-home safety kit.
Parents, daycare operators, summer camps, non-profit groups and Nashville area clubs are encouraged to bring children out for this one-day event on Wednesday, June 15 from 12-4 pm at the Remington College-Nashville Campus.
Participating children will receive the following:
“Toothprint” Child Safety Forensic Identification Kits
- The Toothprint is a special child identification device that records both bite characteristics and DNA information. Parents receive a wafer with the information imprinted on it that serves as a permanent record like a fingerprint. In addition to the DNA sample, the saliva scent on the wafer can be used by tracking dogs in the event of a missing child.
Oral Health Education and Tooth Care Tips
- Kids will learn about the importance of brushing, flossing and taking care of their teeth.
Complimentary Oral Hygiene Supplies
- Toothbrushes, floss and more.
Participants will also receive coupons for complimentary dental care services at the Remington College-Nashville Campus Dental Hygiene Clinic. Under the supervision of Dental Hygiene faculty, students pursuing associate’s degrees in dental hygiene perform low-cost procedures for the public, including oral prophylaxis, topical fluoride treatments, x-rays, scaling and root planning and dental sealants.
“Early dental hygiene education is an essential part of getting kids to develop healthy oral hygiene habits that will last a lifetime,” said Larry Collins, Remington College-Nashville Campus President.
The Remington College-Nashville Campus is located at 441 Donelson Pike, Suite 150 in Nashville.
