Remington College School of Dental Hygiene Offers Complimentary Back-to-School Teeth Cleanings in August

12 Months of Smiles campaign provides discounts on dental health services at Remington College-Nashville Campus

Nashville, Tenn. – (July 29, 2011) – Back to school means shopping for pencils, pens, paper and other necessities. Parents in the Nashville area can add complimentary teeth cleanings and toothprints to their back to school list, thanks to Remington College-Nashville Campus.

The campus Dental Hygiene Program is offering complimentary teeth cleanings and ToothPrint identification for children throughout the month of August.  The effort is part of the “12 Months of Smiles” campaign, an effort to provide low-cost dental services to people in the Nashville area.

The Toothprint is a special child identification device that records both bite characteristics and DNA information. Parents receive a wafer with the information imprinted on it. The procedure takes only a few minutes and children as young as 3-4 years of age are usually able to provide an acceptable imprint.

“Now is a great time for parents to have their children’s teeth cleaned and get a ToothPrint,” said Larry Collins, Remington College-Nashville Campus President. “It’s a convenient time before kids go back to school and gives parents some peace of mind.”

Under the supervision of Dental Hygiene faculty, students pursuing associate’s degrees in dental hygiene perform low-cost procedures for the public, including:

  • Oral prophylaxis (cleaning) and topical fluoride treatments
  • X-rays
  • Scaling and root planing
  • ToothPrint child identification impressions
  • Oral cancer screenings
  • Dental sealants

Initial patient registration is required, and costs just $1. Payments can be made by cash or credit card.

The Remington College Dental Hygiene Program can be completed in as few as 24-months and in an accredited program designed to prepare students for careers as dental hygienists.[i] Instructors have real world experience in the dental hygiene field and course offerings include Preclinical Dental Hygiene Practice, Oral and Dental Anatomy, Nutrition and Biochemistry and Oral Radiology.
