Remington College-Dallas Campus Holds Holiday Blood Drive

Need for blood high during the holiday season

Dallas, Texas – (December 15, 2011) – Remington College-Dallas Campus is trying to help local hospitals and blood banks meet the need for blood during the holidays by holding a blood drive on Wednesday, December 21 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm and 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

Blood donations tend to drop during the holidays because student donors are out of school, some people are traveling and some are busy with other obligations. But the need for blood remains very high.

The Remington College 3 Lives campaign is a year round effort to collect blood and increase the number minority blood donors to benefit local residents who need specific types of blood as part of their treatment for sickle cell disease and other blood disorders.

The effort is called 3 Lives because three lives may be saved for every one pint of blood donated.

Remington College recently received America’s Blood Center’s National Partner of the Year Award for helping to raise awareness of the need for blood donors and has collected more than 2,000 pints of blood in 2011.

While the focus is on recruiting minority donors, everyone is encouraged to attend the drive and donate blood. All the blood collected will be used to help people in the Metroplex.

“Everyone is looking for that perfect gift during the holidays,” said Skip Walls, Remington College-Dallas Campus President. “Giving blood is like giving the gift of life to someone in our community.”

Remington College-Dallas Campus is located at 1800 Eastgate Drive in Garland.
