Remington College School of Dental Hygiene Offers Complimentary Back-to-School Teeth Cleanings for Kids in August

ToothPrint child ID’s also available at no cost in August

Nashville, Tenn. – (July 5, 2012) - Remington College-Nashville Campus hopes to put a smile on the faces of children – and their parents – by offering complimentary back-to-school teeth cleanings for kids throughout the month of August.

In addition to free teeth cleanings, the Dental Hygiene Program is also offering complimentary ToothPrint child identification during the month of August.

The ToothPrint is a special child identification device that records both bite characteristics and DNA information. Parents receive a wafer with the information imprinted on it. The procedure takes only a few minutes and children as young as 3-4 years of age are usually able to provide an acceptable imprint.

“Summer is a great time for parents to address their children’s dental health,” said Larry Collins, Remington College-Nashville Campus President. “Parents can get these dental health services done before their schedules get hectic again in the fall.”

More than 4,400 Nashville area residents took advantage of Remington College’s low or no cost dental services in 2011.

Under the supervision of instructors, students pursuing associate’s degrees in dental hygiene perform low-cost procedures for the public, including:

  • Oral prophylaxis (cleaning) and topical fluoride treatments
  • X-rays
  • Scaling and root planing
  • ToothPrint child identification impressions
  • Oral cancer screenings
  • Dental Sealants

The Remington College Dental Hygiene Program can be completed in as few as 24-months and is an accredited program designed to prepare students for careers as dental hygienists.[i] Instructors have real world experience in the dental hygiene field and course offerings include Preclinical Dental Hygiene Practice, Oral and Dental Anatomy, Nutrition and Biochemistry and Oral Radiology.
