Remington College of Nursing to Host Open House at Lake Mary Campus on April 16

Lake Mary, FL – Across Central Florida, the unemployment rate continues to rise as an increasing number of companies shed jobs. Despite the sluggish economy, nursing remains an in-demand profession. According to the Florida Center for Nursing, there will be a shortage of more than 18,400 nurses by 2010 in this state. Remington College of Nursing is striving to help by educating nurses in its accelerated baccalaureate program.

If you have a four-year degree and are considering a return to school to pursue a career in nursing, Remington College of Nursing invites you to attend an open house to learn more about its program. The event will take place on Thursday, April 16 from 1-5:30 p.m. at the new campus at 660 Century Point, Suite 1050, just off I-4 in Lake Mary.

Remington College of Nursing offers an accelerated 12-month Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program for students who already have earned a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a different field. This new four-quarter program had its inaugural class begin February 2009, with the second class beginning in July 2009. After successful program completion, students will be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) to become a registered nurse.

At the open house, prospective students can meet the college’s faculty members and staff, speak with financial aid advisors, and tour the classrooms and labs, where they will see demonstrations of state-of-the-art equipment such as human patient simulators in a re-created hospital setting.

The deadline for applications for the July 2009 class is April 15 for early decision; June 1 is the final acceptance date. Admission requirements include a four-year college degree and completed courses in anatomy and physiology, microbiology, chemistry, statistics, a social science (sociology or psychology), and English. Prospective students must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5. In addition, they must have a 2.75 grade point average or higher in the sciences.

For additional information or to RSVP for the open house, please contact the college at 407-562-9100.
