Remington College to Hold Community Fair
Hurricane safety, back to school, family fun highlight August 8th event
Mobile, AL – (July 2009) – Remington College-Mobile Campus in partnership with NBC 15 will hold a Community Fair on August 8th that will showcase what the campus has to offer and provide a variety of family-friendly activities/presentations, including:
- Hurricane preparedness tips
- Health screenings
- K-9 demonstrations
- Remote control car races
- Computer games
- “Who did it?” crime scene analysis demonstration
- Laser shot demonstrations and competitions
- Pharmacy technician students will demonstrate compounding of lollipops and lip balm
- Computer-aided design and drafting demonstrations
- Face painting
Local celebrities and public officials will take turns in a dunk tank to raise money for Jessica Weller, a Mobile County teenager battling a rare form of cancer. Ms. Weller is battling Ewing Sarcoma and is scheduled to have surgery in Houston at the time of the event. The money raised will go to a non-profit fund that has been set up to help her family with expenses related to her medical treatment.
The event will run from 10 am to 2 pm. In addition to the family activities, the public can also tour the campus, meet instructors, get information on the educational training programs offered and learn more about financial aid available for those who qualify.
Remington College-Mobile Campus offers a variety of diploma and degree programs designed to help prepare students for entry-level employment. Programs include the following degree programs: Computer and Network Administration, Criminal Justice, Electronics and Computer Technology and diploma programs: Computer-Aided Design and Drafting, Medical Assisting, Medical Insurance and Coding and Pharmacy Technician.
While no reputable college can guarantee employment after graduation, Remington College-Mobile Campus has a Career Services Department to assist graduates with their job search, as well as with resume preparation and interviewing skills.
