Remington College Announces Department Chairs for New Online Programs

New chairs bring years of real-world experience into virtual classroom 

Heathrow, FL – (January 5, 2010)Remington College announced Department Chairpersons for the its new online programs in Criminal Justice, Business and Management, and Paralegal. 

William Shell was named Department Chair for the online Criminal Justice program at Remington College. Mr. Shell has experience in both law enforcement and higher education. He was a command officer for the Detroit Police Department for 25 years before retiring and moving into the corporate security sector. Additionally, Mr. Shell taught at the  post-secondary level for more than 14 years, with teaching experience at Wayne State University, Wayne County Community College, Henry Ford Community College and the University of Phoenix, including more than 12 years experience in teaching online classes. Mr. Shell has a BS degree in Criminal Justice and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Wayne State University, and is a graduate of two state police academies and the FBI National Academy.

Dr. John Vincent is the Department Chair for Remington College’s Business and Management  online program. Dr. Vincent has an extensive business background as a Vice President for Penford Products Company and Reichold Chemicals Inc. and Chief Technical Officer for Cytec Industries. His areas of expertise include technology forecasting, strategy formulation and leading organizational innovation. Dr. Vincent also brings a wealth of experience in quality management, and is very familiar with the Japanese approach to managing quality and innovation. Since leaving the chemical industry, Dr. Vincent has taught higher education since 1998, both online and in the classroom, specializing in strategic management, technology strategy and forecasting, technological innovation and operations management. He has taught at several colleges, including the University of Phoenix, Webster University, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Seminole Community College. Vincent has a Ph.D in organic chemistry from the Stevens Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Larry Barnes Esq.  is the Department Chair for Remington College’s online Paralegal program and General Education courses. Mr. Barnes has four decades of legal experience in Central Florida, with experience in real estate law, probate and with the Attorney’s Title Insurance Fund. In 1989, he opened his own law office and began teaching as an adjunct professor in the legal studies department at Seminole Community College. Mr. Barnes also taught business law at Valencia Community College.
