Elkins Elementary School wins Remington College “Adopt Our School” Vote
New high tech teaching tool worth $2,000 will be presented to school at April 19 board meeting
Ft. Worth, Texas – (April 16, 2010) – The votes are in and Elkins Elementary School in Fort Worth will receive a school supply donation from Remington College-Fort Worth Campus worth nearly $2,000.
Elkins Elementary School received the most votes in Remington College’s Adopt Our School program, an effort by Remington College to assist local public schools with up to $2,000 worth of school supplies. Nominations and voting were done online by the public.
The staff at Elkins Elementary has requested a high tech Classroom Learning System that allows students to use handheld “clickers” to respond to questions. Teachers will be able to immediately see all the student responses and can instantly assess student comprehension of their lessons. The system will be presented to school officials at the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD meeting on Monday, April 19 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Truett B. Absher Administrative Services Building at 1200 Old Decatur Road in Ft. Worth.
“We congratulate Elkins Elementary School of the Creative Arts and can’t wait to for them to try out the new Classroom Learning System,” said Gregg Falcon, Remington College-Fort Worth Campus President. “We know our local public schools budgets are very tight and hope this will be a big boost to the students and faculty.”
Remington College-Ft. Worth Campus will hold another Adopt Our School competition in the fall, with another $2,000 worth of school supplies for the winning school.
The Adopt Our School program is part of “Remington College Reaches Out,” a series of community initiatives and charitable efforts to mark the college’s 25th anniversary in 2010.
